Coronation Street weekly update, to 2 January

Comments (3)

A speedy hurtle through the previous fortnight of festive fun in our favourite fake Manchester district.
30-Dec6.jpgUncle Stephen and his bad Canadian accent offered David a job in Milan. David was the ideal choice to head up the Italian branch of a fashion empire, but sadly when drugs were discovered in his drawer at t’salon, the job was offered instead to his sister, Sarah. Fortunately Sarah is equally at ease with the world of international retail and has her own Teach Yourself Italian tape. The fact that she was the one who scuppered David’s chances by planting the drugs in the first place was neither here nor there, until new husband Jason heard about it. It was the excuse he needed to leave her at the station and go back home to Coronation Street, and a new year kiss from Becky.

Liz and Vernon finally got married...

31-Dec3.jpgThe choice of matching white suits proved to be a tad unfortunate when Jim McDonald spilled a large quantity of Vernon’s blood over his, but the show went on regardless. Jim has now wandered back into the wilderness beyond Weatherfield, and will no doubt soon be turning up in episodes of Blue Murder and Holby City.

That old plot standby of mixing up the Christmas gifts led to Rosie and Stape’s affair being spectacularly uncovered on Christmas Day. The Webster turkey went cold as there were recriminations, slappings, and Kevin spent a few days in a cell for beating up Mr Stape. Kevin now faces a possible prison sentence, no-one is speaking to Rosie, and poor Fiz is heartbroken.

Michelle discovered that her sullen, dark-haired son Ryan may not be hers after all, and she may in fact be the mother of a different sullen, dark-haired son. She’s devastated, naturally.

Maria found out that Carla and Liam once shared a kiss, but Liam managed to convince her that there was nothing in it. He hasn’t convinced himself, though. Liam and Maria are off for a romantic break to the Lake District.

Roy, Becky, Kirk and Chesney enjoyed Christmas at t’café, and Roy eventually got a phone call from Hayley, which made his day and was the most touching moment of the entire festive period, Corrie-wise.

I like canadian accents! I should know, as I'm friends with a canadian! I'm sure she won't stand for it either!

I think they were referring to all of us Canadians who read here. We -- ok, I -- keep complaining about how badly the actor who plays Stephen mangles our accent.

Rebecca - I love Canadian accents, and my co-Corrieblogger Tvor *is* Canadian. But a lot of our Canadian readers pointed out that Stephen's accent doesn't sound Canadian at all, and the actor himself is from the USA.
