Corrie-related YouTube question

Have a look at this YouTube video, and then click the Continue Reading link to find out what it's got to do with Coronation Street.

The song is I Wanna Give You Devotion, which was an international number one hit back in 1991 for Nomad.

Nomad spelled backwards is Damon, and the Damon in question is genius Coronation Street scriptwriter Damon Rochefort (he's the one playing the keyboard in the video, I think, but please correct me if you know differently). He started his career as a music journalist, writing for Blues & Soul, Smash Hits and the Sun when he was only 18. He then turned his hand to being a pop star, and also wrote and produced hits for Elton John, Michelle Gayle, Kim Wilde and others.

Luckily for us he met comedy writing legends Laurence Marks and Maurice Gran at a sitcom workshop, and wrote several episodes of their comedy series Birds of a Feather as well as other one-off TV shows. He's been a Coronation Street regular since 2004, and in my opinion he's one of the best writers Corrie has, with a brilliant ear for comedy dialogue.

PS - the singer in the video is Sharon D Clarke, who is currently playing Lola Griffin in Holby City

that is very cool. I was on the right track. I had Daran Little going around in my mind for some reason so at least i was thinking "writer"

What a great piece of trivia.

This was great! But there was 1 drawback- the fact that as soon as my mum posted this article, she was singing 'I wanna give you devottion' for weeks!

Great Job!!! Informative and attention keeping! youtube question
