Yay or Nay - Too many Corrie minxes?

Comments (10)

It's Yay or Nay time again (don't the weeks just fly by when you're having fun?). Last week we asked: Is Corrie on too often? Lots of you responded, and the vote was Nay, it's not on too often. Viewers in Canada seemed particularly keen on getting their regular Corrie fix, and Sally Black said it "could never be on too often!!" Quite a few people did think that the quality of the storylines and acting has suffered as a result of having five episodes a week, but generally you like it the way it is.

12-Nov3.jpgThis week, we've been hearing about the arrival of Lauren Wilson, and how she's going to be a "minx." This is hot on the heels of Rosie Webster and her new pouts-and-pelmets look. What I would like you to ponder is: Are there too many minxes on Coronation Street? Click the comments link to vote Yay or Nay.

I think Yay. I can't imagine Lauren Wilson as a 'minx' as Corrieblog put it. Violet is so perfect and a 'goodie goodie two shoes' and Rosie Webster Idon't know where that came from. She had a crish on Liam and in a romantic relationship with John Stape at the moment. It's not really like she has all the men in the street at her fingertips.

I say Yay. Mostly the problem is that there aren't enough non-minx female characters to balance it out. And it's sad to see a great non-minx like Fiz having her relationship ruined by one.

Yay, although I'm not sure what a minx is. If flirty female, then ok but if they go to the extent of Karen McDonald or Tracy B then the characters are too one sided to be believable. Would like to see a bit of nasty in the goody-goodys and some good in say the Cillas of the show to make them more like real people.

Yay. but yes, I agree, we need a few "nice" girls. I hope they expand Amber's character a bit more. She's a real firecracker and so is Sophie. I would like to see them develop into a non-minx type of person. Violet is a great character but sadly leaving.

Yay - we need the minxes, if that's a word, but let's have a proportionate amount of the non-minxes. Not every female in the real world has dozens of lovers and marriages, though I would suppose those are the more interesting ones! Lol Fiz is an excellent example of a decent person who has ups and downs in her love life without being sleazy about it.

a definite yah!
I like a little normal in my corrie

Tvor, I so agree about Amber. In the recent scenes in the school it's been quite refreshing to have Amber there being her usual lippy, sharp but *normal* self. Rosie has just become a caricature, she was much more interesting when she was with Craig. And I'm not looking forward to Lauren much, but will wait and see. So I vote Yay.

Yay! I'm sick and tired of all the sexy storylines, love triangles, and illicit affairs. There's more to life you know! I like to see women who have more to them than just sex. I think what's happening with Rosie is a real shame: she is supposed to be very intelligent (especially with math) and educated, and yet has ended up in a factory flashing her boobs at older men! Lets get some more interesting multi-faceted women on the street and better role-models!

i think it is good having minxes on corrie cause it makes it more interesting to watch

nay
