Eileen Grimshaw arrived on our screens in 2000 as a passenger in a Streetcar in the company's early days. It turns out she was a taxi dispatcher for a rival company as well as holding down two other jobs and looking for a change. Vikram hired her on the spot and she soon convinced Steve to rent her number 11.

Who doesn't enjoy her wicked repartee with Steve that masks a really loyal friendship? who doesn't appreciate her strength, bringing up to boys on her own with no help from their feckless fathers? Who doesn't identify with both her pride and despair over the triumphs and troubles in her sons' lives? Who doesn't urge her on when she struggles and cheer for her when she finally comes up trumps? Who wants her to find a really nice man who won't dump all over her or let her down?
She will fiercely defend her lads and just as fiercely call them on the carpet when they've been a pratt. She wants the best for them and gets angry when she sees them throwing it all away. We love Eileen Grimshaw and we love Sue Cleaver who has portrayed her so well for all these years! I've met Sue at a fan event here in Halifax and she was really nice.
