Following yesterday's revelations about Liam Connor becoming a Coronation Street vigilante when nephew Ryan is apparently stalked by a paedophile, the Daily Star has more spoilers about the same plot today.
Apparently the alleged "paedophile" is Nick Greco (played by Robert Horwell, previoiusly seen in The Bill and Doctors). Greco's son Alex was born on the same day and in the same hospital as Ryan - and Greco and his wife believe they took the wrong child home with them, and Ryan is, in fact, their son.
Poor Michelle! Kym Ryder hinted recently that her character was in for a lot of angst. She's lost her husband and her brother, and now faces the prospect that the son she's raised may not be hers. An insider told The Star: “Can there really be anything more traumatic for a parent to have to endure?”
Oh good. Then maybe if Ryan isn't really Ryan, they can get rid of that awful actor who plays him and change him for a better version :-)
lol Dilly. Anyway that's a bit of an unusual plot. I wonder if the other couple lost their son? and that's why the father is looking at this one? Mind you the state of the NHS i wouldn't be surprised ;)
Yes tvor, I would say it's unusual. It's amazing, the number of unusual things that happen to the residents of a small suburban street :-)
I read of a case like this only this week - two women in Russia (I think) had been told that their babies, who were around a year old, actually belonged to each other due to a hospital mix-up. It was heartbreaking for them, because they'd bonded with the babies they'd thought of as their own. They were planning to all live together, the 4 parents and 2 babies.
This sounds completely ridiculous.
However if it means Ryan is swapped for another boy, bring it on.
This happened on Neighbours. It was a deliberate swap though, by a grandparent, so I suppose it's slightly more plausible. It did make sense despite its unusualness because the girl in question was nothing like her family.
I hope it just turns out that the man is mistaken. I can't be bothered to watch them find out Ryan isn't really hers.
Ryan hasnt had a storyline of his own yet, this is his chance to prove himself
I seriously doubt that the result if this storyline will be that Ryan isn't Michelle's biological son. They will get a fair but of angst out of it, but in the end Ryan will take the blood test and he will be Michelle's son. I mean seriously it is a soap after all.
"can there be anything more dramatic for a parent?" Ofcourse there can. Having a child disappear, kidnapped or runaway, not knowing where they are? alive or dead? Or after years of abduction your child is returned but entirely changed. There are a lots more senarios worst than switched a birth but as for Corrie this is a good one and not used before that I can remember. Will probable turn out to be a misunderstanding or a hokes.
This sounds really stupid and uninteresting. Another 'issue driven' storyline, rather than a character driven one.
It's to be hoped they can find Ryan in the Corrie Cupboard, he's been in there an awful long time. What a silly storyline.
An attempt to give Kym Ryder a plotline, but she can't act so cue for some more pouting, angst and staring eyes. Yawn.
i think that its stupid and now very boring i love ryan and think hes amazing but its not a story for him he needs romance or something not a story like hes got here. Also it just seems so stupid that boy (alex) turning up in different sences its annoying. But overall Ryan is a really good actor he is also really fit aswell.
