Corrie A-Z: T is for Trivia

Comments (6)

corrieTitles60s.jpgThere are forty-seven years of history behind Coronation Street and it doesn't look like it's going to end any time soon. Long time viewers know a lot about the show, from watching it and from all of the many books published about it over the years. The most prolific author, Daran Little, has written some wonderful books gathering together summaries and trivia lists of the show as well as devising a history of Coronation Street that reaches back to 1902, when the physical street was supposed to have been built.

Check your local library, second hand bookshop, eBay or market stall for the older books, trivia books and games that are not in print or distribution anymore. Another really good book is called Access all Areas. Our former editor, Flaming Nora, had a hand in helping to put this book together, which focuses on behind the scenes. Between the books and 47 years of shows, there is a lot of fodder for bits of information, books, little known facts and our weekly trivia quizzes right here on Corrieblog! We intrepid Corriebloggers keep the trivia library stocked as well.

Of the 15 CS books I have Access All Areas is the one I enjoyed most. How things are done is more interesting to me than what the storylines are.

I got trivia!!!!!

No.4 was changed due to the fact scenes had to be filmed in the actual house, the stairs didnt match the ones in the real house, so Steve Frost decided to changed the set, because it costs less than moving stairs (also take less time)

I wonder about that Ant. I have been on the set and in the studios. The outdoor new side are just shells. there wouldn't have been any stairs in them to start with. The old side houses are actually one big boardroom on the upper floor. The stairs in Number 5 go up to it. None of the others have insides, they're just empty other than decoration by the door. In thestudio sets, i've seen moveable staircases though i'm not sure if the old staircase in the peacock living room is moveable or if it was attached. Anything is possible though

What about the scenes of people looking out of the upstairs windows?

Yes that's true, one of the houses will have a staircase, i don't know which one and it's possible 4 has the stairs. What would they have been filming in there though? Maybe the scenes where the neighbours were redecorating after the fire? Then at least, would it have been an empty room?

They will have put up false walls, they can film fires in the studio, to many sets and equipment stored there
