X-rated scenes on Coronation Street? Where!? Well, not quite as you might think. There have been very few scenes where you see both partners in bed and almost all of them used to show people just waking up in the morning or people with their backs turned to each other looking miserable. We've also had two people modelling sans clothing for art classes in the forms of Nick Tilsley (Well, we always knew he was a poser!) and Jack Duckworth. Chesney saw a naked Sally in shower though we didn't see it. I bet Chesney wishes he hadn't either.

We have had one nearly-graphic scene where Mike was seen climbing off Julia Stone in a fling that cost him his marriage to Alma and we have seen post-rumpy pumpy scenes between Deirdre and Dev (ew, and I bet she wasn't blowing on her harmonica either, for his entertainment!) and we've seen Sunita and Ciaran (lucky girl!) post-mambo under the duvet. Maxine's drunken roll on the carpet with Matt (which ultimately produced Joshua) was near the knuckle and a few years before that, Maxine waited in the nude for Ashley but Fred walked in and caught her in flagrante.
On a different note, the reason Bill Waddington, who played Percy Sugden, left the show in 1997 was because he felt there was too much sex in the show! It's still pretty tame compared to some but do you think Coronation Street has gone too far or has it just had to move along with the times to compete with the other racier soaps?

That reminds me - some years ago an older cousin of my mother's, in England, mentioned in a letter how disgusted she was with Coronation St at the time. Gail had just reunited with Brian, and there was a bedroom scene that left nothing to the imagination, according to her - they really were terrible to show that sort of thing on television! Well, as you can imagine, we were very much looking forward to seeing this disgusting scene, which showed absolutely nothing at all! How disappointed we were!
I don't think there is too much nudity/sex at all. I think the show is very realistic and I have never felt that nudity/sex was every displayed simply for the sake of it.

Charmaine, my husband and I just looked at each other when we realized we had just seen the forbidden scene, and that was it. We had been looking forward to it for months. It was a bedroom scene technically, as it was in a bedroom, but that was as far as it went.

The (sex?) romantic scenes I perfer are those played for laughs eg. Vera chasing Jack up the stairs when they own the Rovers. In Canada we have just seen New Years of 2007 and there was Vera smooching Jack up in the Rovers during the celebrations. Gotta love them, will certainly miss Vera. One couple who could be more romantic is Hailey and Roy. When ever she gives him a peckle, he seems to jurk away.
