It’s hard to think of it now, but in the 1980s having a Deirdre perm was the very height of fashion. Perms recently celebrated their 100th anniversary and along with Kevin Keegan, Deirdre Barlow’s perm was all over the press in recognition of the curly hairdo’s big day. Vera’s early curly look was something Liz Dawn picked out because it stood out from the rest of the female cast at the time, pre-Deirdre perm. Has a Corrie haircut ever made bigger news?
