Yay or Nay - are you glad Vernon's staying on the Street?

Comments (28)

Wahey! It's Wednesday and time for another Yay or Nay. Last week we asked if Mr Stape was good enough for our Fiz and your response was an overall Nay. Most of us felt that Fiz can do better.

Vernon%20Tomlin.jpgThis week we're asking if anyone is heartened to hear that Vernon Tomlin is staying on the Street? I know this one will bring a great deal of response because every time we mention Vernon it seems there's a love / hate fan thang going on with the dodgy drummer. I love Vernon, me, and am over the moon he's staying on Corrie, but what do you think? Get voting on this week's burning question now.

And remember you can vote Yay or Nay across some of the other Shiny sites at  Catwalk Queen, Dollymix, Kiss and Make Up, The Bag Lady, Shoewawa, Trashionista, Shiny Shiny, Hippy Shopper and Bridalwave

Don't mind him staying for now, as long as they let Jim out of prison, and return to try to woo Liz.

He can stay for now, but only as the butt of Steve and Lloyd's jokes. Please don't bring Jim back, he's had his day - so he has.

NAY! Can't stand Vernon, get rid of him! And I agree with John, PLEASE bring Jim back!!!

Vernon turned a corner for me on Sunday - we actually saw some substance to him. I also realised that he reminds me of someone I used to work with!

If there's one thing that annoys me is underdeveloped characters who are held up by their 'extras'. In the case of Vernon he has been held together by the 'band' nonsense for the past couple of years. I am glad that Vernon is staying but the Corrie bigwigs need to put some time into laying a proper foundation for the character. Vernon being workshy isn't enough, they need to play on that but develop it further than the predictable.

I wish he had never set foot on the cobbles. The sooner his contract expires the better.

I can see Liz having a kareoke night singing "Please don't go, don't gooo! I'm beggin' yoooo to staayyy!" to Vern.

Yes, Vern to stay. But I would like to see Jim return.

A definate YAY from me. He reminds me of a neighbour of mine, in fact a few Corrie characters remind me of someone or another so they're doing something right in establishing true characters.

I have to say I disliked Vernon first time round and moaned when they brought the character back, but we have got to know him now and I think he's a good character. If you dont like him - tough - I read that the actor has signed a contract for another year.

YAY - I am delighted he is staying. He is a good character and Ian Reddington plays him brilliantly.

Jim can DIE in prison for all i care, so he should.

Definately Yay, he's grown on me. He works so well with Liz.

I'm with Janet and John...he should go. But since he's signed a new contract for a year and will be staying, I'm with Sue - only as the butt of Steve and Lloyd's jokes. How about making him Norris' new love interest - the comment about Norris being gay could be made to work...we all know Rita's going to turn him down!

At present in Canada he is off our screens and that is a releaf. I understand when he returns they broaden his character so it is not so one dememtional. Will have to wait and see if that is an improvement. Undecided! Re Jim a definite NO!!

YAY! He is a breath of fresh air.

NAY I can't stand Vernon. A lot of new characters I like, I'm not one of those people who won't give anyone a look in unless they've been in for 20 years or more, I just genuinely can't stand him. Sorry 'bout that.

NAY! Liz deserves soooooo much better than Vernon or Jim.

OH....YAY! HE IS SO FUNNY AND A MONKEY, HE'S GREAT, SO DIFFERENT, IF HE LEAVES I DON'T KNO WAT I'D DO, HES A GREAT ACTOR AND I JUST COULDN'T STOP LAUGHING AT HIM WHEN THEY HAD THE EVACUATION OF THE STREET AND THE CHEMISTRY BETWEEN HIM AND STEVE AND THEIR RELEATIONSHIP IS SO FUNNY!

ney ney ney

A big YAY!!! I love Vernon. I think he's a legend, he is a classic Corrie character. Reminds me of a younger version of Jack kinda. I find him one of the funniest characters on the street. I'm a big fan of his and I think Ian Reddington plays him extremely well!

Yay from me. I think Ian plays the part well and he works well with Liz and Steve.

Nay. Nope. No. Oh no. Uh uh.

He can stay if the Corrie HairFairy gives him a new haircut!! Otherwise, give 'em the boot!

Hated him. Love him now.

Love him . Yay!

Ba..dich

YAY!

I am really undecided, but I'll go for NAY. I can see where the writers have been trying to make him more sympathetic and less of a parasite lately, but that's just the problem. I can see it. It's too obvious. It's like the personality transplant fairy is visibly fluttering around.

I think what finally lost me was his selling his record collection to take Liz to Paris. My best friend is a record collector and neither he nor any of our other collector friends would ever do that. To quote my best friend, "Records have gotten me through times with no sex better than sex will get me through times with no records."

Put me in the Yay column. Vernon's grown on me. I think he's real, and I think there is room for many good story-lines.

NAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Maybe yay only if jim comes back and i think the mojirity say nay or bring back jim

Yay!
I know Vernon can be a pain, but he loves Liz
And they go well together
