Yay or Nay - will you miss Vera Duckworth?

Comments (22)

Wahey! It's Wednesday and time for another Yay or Nay. Last week's Yay or Nay generated a lot of response but I do believe Corrie fans are warming to Vernon Tomlin as the result of the poll was a great big fat YAY. So, let's hear it for feckless Vernon with our very own Coronation Street drum roll, click here.

Vera%20Duckworth.jpgI know, I know... this week it's a rhetoric question, I'm sure, but it's one I have to ask. Will you miss Vera Duckworth? And if not, why not? Tell us your thoughts and get voting on this week's burning question.

And remember you can vote Yay or Nay across some of the other Shiny sites at  Catwalk Queen, Dollymix, Kiss and Make Up, The Bag Lady, Shoewawa, Trashionista, Shiny Shiny, Hippy Shopper and Bridalwave

She's a much loved character, and I'll certainly miss those comic moments between her and Jack, but those moments have been few and far between in recent years, and Vera's been missing on and off for weeks at a time, and I must admit to not really noticing.

I will miss Vera even though Liz Dawn really hams her up, It will be awful if Jack is left moping on his own.

I will definitely miss Vera and her big gob. She and Jack were a classic double act in the same vein as Stan and Hilda. Vera could be quite nasty sometimes and naive when it comes to RTerry but she loved Tyrone like a son and Frankie like a daughter. I'll miss her

When she was younger, she used to get right on my tits. Struck me as thick, vindictive, and nasty.

But in her autumn years, with her comic double act with Jacko - of course she'll be missed.

yeh she will be missed but not too much as we rearly see her anyway...

Nay.

Yay!! - Vera is a Coronation St. fixture and when people like that leave, like them or not it changes the tone of the show. I hope she leaves the door open for at least some guest appearances. And while I'm at it, bring back Mavis for a visit!!!

Absolutely! I don't want to see her die in order to write her character out. I would prefer the idea I saw yesterday of her making special appearances from time to time. Hopefully, the writers can come up with a story line that fits that idea. She off looking after a relative or something. We'll miss her dearly, especially knowing that she had to retire due to ill health.

I will definitely miss our Vera. I love the chemisty that Liz and Bill had together. It's hard to imagine Jack without his little swampduck.

Massively. If she dies (and i hope she does) then i hope past cast will turn up for the funeral. People like Terry and even Frankie spring to mind. There is no way Frankie would miss Vera's funeral. Her mini return could co-incide with Danny's return. Though she is going to be in Holby isn't she? Bugger.

YAY! Vera is a Corrie legend (one of the few left). She's been a joy to watch for 34 years and full credit to Liz Dawn for creating such a brilliant character. So many fond memories. A particular highlight was the Duckworths dinner party with the Taylors (Kimberley's family). Corrie at it's comedy best.

YAY....I feel so bad for the actress, Liz Dawn.I hope she is around for a very long time...Her health isn't probably that good...

I love Vera's big mouth!

Of course I will, dearly.Vera is only one of the few people in Corrie, the reason I watch the soap these days.I'm so sorry to hear about Liz Dawn and God bless her always.Thank you so much Ms Dawn.

I'll definately miss her! Jack and Vera have been my two favourite characters for years!

Of course Yay! I also like the older more mellow Vera from post factory days. When she was nasty, as with David and the window breaking incident, she would apoligize once she cold down.

YAY of course I will.
Sally Whittaker once said something that I think is very true... "There are three ways to recognise Coronation Street: The Rovers Return, the cobblestone and the Duckworths"

I will miss her terribly. I agree with Peter that oldtimers should come back for her funeral and my vote would be for Curly. I can't see him missing it for anything. Maybe they could have her come back from time to time as a ghost. If it was good enough for Ivy it should be good enough for Vera.

I will defnintely miss VERA. Jack without Vera - I just can't imagine. The thought of Vera leaving just makes me feel sad. My brother once remarked that Jack & Vera where the King and Queen of Coronation Street and I agreed with him.

Yay!
She'll be a great loss
