Hayley finds out shocking news

Comments (18)

royhayleycups.jpgYou'll recall the upcoming story on Coronation Street about Hayley discovering that she fathered a son 20 years ago? Yes? Well, they've started filming on that and will be showing the first scenes next month. Looks like Hayley finds out the news at a funeral, if the photo with this article is anything to go by. Let's all hope this story, which is a rewrite of Hayley's history, is done sensitively, at least!

I think they have got the story line from me as i wrote to them in 2001 with the idea and they wrote to me back saying they could not use any one story line. but i wote it when harlod was unsure want he wanted to do.

    it good

Things may not be as grim as suggested. I still think it's a stupid story, and a mistake, but little birdies are at work ....

The idea of Harold having had a romantic sustained relationship of any sort doesn't ring true to me at all, but the idea of a one night stand does. You have a young man struggling far more than most to try to figure out his sexuality - probably wouldn't initiate an encounter, but if offered it, may very well have taken advantage of a situation to 'test' himself. Like everyone else, I have to admit David and Julie are brilliant. They will do it right! Tell me, folks, how many of you thought you would never watch Corrie again when you first heard there was going be a "bloke in a dress" on the show? I did, I thought we were going to hell in a handbasket!

I'm not sure how I feel about this. I agree with Tvor, in that some ideas that sounded ridiculous have ended up being very convincing, with excellent writing and acting. I wish they had more non-dramatic stories, generally - perhaps Roy could start a mail order business, or make the cafe more up-market. There have to be other stories that are interesting without being so melodramatic.

I must toss my vote in with those who think it's a ridiculous story line. I like Corrie for it's realism. Things like this...."p...me off"

  • Brenda

I think this is a great idea for a storyline - I can't wait for it. Male or female, Harold/Haley is human and it certainly is within the realm of possibility.

The storyline is utter garbage. Do the execs think the viewers will swallow any old rubbish. Absoulute crap and these spoilers are dreadful.

The show will be on it's knees by Autumn.

  • If it was a one nighter then I will find it even more unbelievable! Hayley wouldn't even talk to Roy at first, let alone jump into bed with him.

  • I know I was being sarcastic earlier but I am certain that Julie and David (Corrie's best male actor) will be superb, ditto to the general writing. What scares me the most is that this is the best that the production team can come up with.

I could give you a list of equally interesting storylines from my own brain that don't involve ruining the credibility of the characters.

Ben, from what I read it was a one night stand for Harold before he was Hayley. I think this is realistic because humans are just that...human! They need intimacy and yes..sex! I think this will be a good storyline...It will be just a long time before we get it here from the CBC.

    CONGRATS CHRISSY!

I am sorry I'm not commenting on Corrie, but I just have to tell you this! I'M PREGNANT! I am soooooooooooo happy!

    P.S The storyline sounds great!

yes, Ben, that's what i meant by Hayley's integrity. It's inconsistent with the character. However, I'm not going to be against the storyline just yet. I really didn't like the idea of the Tracy beds Roy for a bet storyline. And even though he didn't actually do it, it was still a cruel thing to do to Roy and Hayley both but it turned out very good. I'm going to be dubious about this but i'm going to give it the benefit of the doubt for now. Julie and David have to do what they're given and if we have to have the storyline, then i think they'll do a great job with it.

  • Very, very unhappy with this storyline. Whether or not the acting, writing or blah blah blah will be good is beside the point. I cannot understand for a second why the character of Hayley (or indeed Harold) would have involved herself with a woman.

From what I remember, Harold was always described as a loner and to try and suggest that he would be able to forge any sort of amorous relationship (let alone sexual!) with a woman completely blows all credibility out of the window.

    Big thumbs down from me.

I look forward to this. I'm convinced that David and Julie will do a supberb job. They've been given 'unusual' storylines before and carried them off brilliantly and with total conviction. I've no doubt they will not let us down with this one.

  • tvor

Hayley has always been a very honest person, and has never lied to Roy about her past, even the painful parts. I can understand how this takes away from her integrity. But part of me looks forward to it because it's a Roy and Hayley story and it will be dramatic and it will be well acted and probably handled quite well in spite of the historical inconsistency. Any storyline that features Roy and Hayley is good.

  • M Robinson

Think its sordid. We will never look at loveable Hailey in the same way again!

  • Paul

This is a story I am REALLY looking forward to. I don't really understand why you think it's re-writing Hayley's history as she can always claim that she was a virgin as a WOMAN and not a MAN. Geddit?
