Watching Sally Webster on screen this week starting her book learning for an A Level in English, made me wonder which other Corrie women have taken up academic studies? The only other one that easily springs to mind is Racquel when she decided to learn French with Ken Barlow as her tutor. But that can't be all, can it? There must have been more Corrie women who have decided to try to study and learn. Or are they all like Valerie Barlow who once memorably said: "I'll never become one of those tweedy intellectual types... I've got more important things to do, like looking after my husband, my children and the house".

Can't think of anyone else off the top of my head who took up academic studies but there have been loads of women who've had ideas above their station! :-)
Mavis took courses on occasions and Hayley has as well. Roy and Hayley tried taking Spanish, first aid, and art-life drawing which is when they found out Nick was modelling. Gail took a short computer course when she went back to work at the clinic. Mostly they just seemed to have enough to just working, raising kids etc. I love this storyline with Sally and i hope they follow it through and not have her quit.
Toyah went on to further her education didn't she?
vera when she owned the rovers took cooking classes what was the need betty's hotpots always been the top food in the rovers return
A lot of the younger females have been interested in their studies, like Andrea Clayton, Jenny Bradley, Flick Khan, Paula Whatsername who went out with Andy McDonald. But not too many older women have gone back to school.
Once Sally has got into her studiess she will become an unbearable 'English Lit' know-it-all. This could be absolutely hilarious. Can't wait. Sally will be in her prime correcting everyone on the Street and showing off her superior knowledge. Great story line potential.
