Roy and Hayley need a storyline! : Corrieblog

I was thinking this morning how Claire and Ashley have had a lot of major storylines in just over a year or so on Coronation Street. (Casey/fire, Fred's death, Claire's post natal depression, Matt Ramsden's visitation case). In that time, what have we seen for Roy and Hayley besides background Greek chorus type dialogue? Oh yes, geeky Clifford was plaguing Roy for a few weeks and they had Craig under their roof for awhile last summer but after the initial angst about what to do with a teenage boy, there wasn't much more there. Roy and Hayley haven't really had a major storyline since Amy was born and given back to Tracy, as far as I can remember. This needs to be remedied!!! Maybe they could foster Chesney after Les and Cilla leave. Maybe they could plan a proper legal wedding for themselves? They are such a wonderful couple and marvellous classic Corrie characters and have had some wonderful storylines in the past. What storyline could you create for them?

Not a fan of Roy but do like Hailey. Would like to see her run a B&B or a half-way house were she could council people down on their luck and influence their lives for the good. Think her people skills are wasted in that factory.

I completely agree with Rock Fairy. It is high time we had a teenager with some ambition. I adore the character of Chesney and hope he will be on the show for a long time to come. We need at least one positive teen role model. I have a pre-teen niece who loves the show and is a huge fan of Fizz and Chesney.

Oh, and since this is a Roy & Hayley post, of course they would be the parents of a teenage boy/young man, with all manner of parent/child story lines. There'd be plenty of soap for them for years.

I would love to see him raised by Roy and Hayley, the child they could never have. And let him, the boy with the greatest obstacles, be the one who truly succeeds. In my imagination, he gets into the best university, then becomes the professional who choses to give back and turns down a prestigious post in London to teach/practice law, medicine, architecture,... in the community that took care of him when he needed it. And somewhere along the way, makes sure his big sister gets a start with her long delayed dream of a clothing design business.

But I'm getting ahead of myself. He still hasn't had a girlfriend.

Definitely would love to see Chesney being fostered by Roy and Hayley.Please let him stay as a nice teenager under the guidance of Roy and Hayley and Fizz in the background.

I would love to see Chesney living with the Croppers. Roy could mentor Chesney into a grate (not just good) student.

It is about time we had a half decent teenager on the Street. All the others have either been useless or evil.

Rather than a heavily dramatic story, I would enjoy having more of the quietly affectionate scenes they do together. They remind me somewhat of Stan and Hilda in their scenes together- very nicely done.

Yes, they do need to stick around. And it would be brilliant if they fostered/adopted Chesney. But, what would be the best is to take the Street on location somewhere...that's always fun...can we work the Chesney/Hayley/Roy story line into a trip? They have to be together...all their names end in "y"!
