Corrie fans have known for a while that Jenny Platt (Violet Wilson) and Rupert HIll (Jamie Baldwin) are leaving Coronation Street later this year. And now, The Daily Star reveals that Violet and Jamie, played by real-life couple Jenny and Rupert, will leave the cobbles together, hand in hand and in love. Violet will get pregnant by her gay mate Sean and when she tells him he’s going to be a father he says: “Ooh, I feel like real man now. I might have to go for a couple of pints”. It’s quite romantic isn’t it, that Violet and Jamie get back together? And I suppose this means that Jamie will be bringing up Sean’s son as his own. Can’t wait for the episode in 18 years time when the baby makes its way back to the cobbles looking for its dad!

Aw i feel bad for Sean. He might not mind that his best friends are bringing up his baby but I thought he would have liked to be a dad, too!
Think this is an awful story and it was a real shame that Violet was not used more as a character.
Its not unrealistic tho...
Exactly the same happened to me.
I absolutely HATE this storyline.
Nice Jamie & Violet get back together & leave together but i wish Jamie wasn't leaving.
This is a bit predictable.
Had hoped that Frankie would come back with Jamies's baby! - and that he would then leave with her. Especially as Jamie told Steve some weeks after Frankie left that he still loved her and then told Leanne that his feelings were real and not for revenge.
Also feel sorry for poor Sean.
Well it was originally denied that Jenny Platt was leaving. The character has been criminally wasted (again) and i am rather pissed off that this is happening.
The Sean/Violet/Baby storyline is sounding just as horrific as the Hayley/Son/Roy storyline.
Dreading the summer at this rate.
I really hope Sean still isn't around in 18 years!!
Perfer to have Sean leaving with Violet and Jamie staying but since Jenny and Rupert are a couple, if one leaves then they both leave. 2007 must have a record number of departures and new arrivals. We are still seeing the 2006 programing in Canada and there have been a lot of coming and goings that year too.
Well all I can say is at least Violet is getting a storyline!
Sean would be a brilliant dad!
I hope he gets some sort of rights to see the baby etc that would be cool
It would be great if SEAN got custody!
Has Violet got mumps? Then why does she look like she has gobstoppers in her cheeks?
I'm sorry to hear that both Violet and Jamie are leaving. While it is not really a surprise, I still had hope that something would change and they would be staying put on the street. There really does seem to be a lot of people leaving and new ones coming on the show - much more than usual. I like to feel that there is some stability in the show and so much news of the coming and goings shakes that stability-feeling.

Darn I hate the internet!!!!
I'm in Edmonton Alberta Canada. We're approx. 9 months behind now....
I can't stop looking ahead.
Hopefully I'll forget all this stuff by the time it airs here.
In the meantime, I do enjoy ruining the storyline for those that are trying to stay pure on the Canadian version.
Fred is still alive but getting close to his BIG Day...
I'm looking forward to the pallbearers carry him into the Church on their shoulders... Ouch!!!! How many were there???
And Frankie!!!
Where did she buys those tops???
Enough to create incest in any family...
I'll try to control myself...
Appears the Street is taking a definite non-hetero slant ...
C'est la vie!!!
But isn't it fun...

Lovely ending for Violet and Jamie but wish it was Jamie's baby and not Sean's.
Another two brilliant characters leaving, just hope that Corrie won't start sliding due to all the departures that are happening, most of which are both popular and fantastic characters.
No, no, no! Am I the only one who thinks the storyline of Violet becoming pregnant by Sean is totally irresponsible? What are the writers thinking of? What message are they giving out to younger viewers - that it's o.k for single women to bring a child into the world without the stability of the father in a solid relationship? It seems that sensationalism is the key word so far as the writers are concerned - it may be common practice but surely it shouldn't be condoned?
That post is so narrow-minded!
The whole point is that Sean and Violet are best friends, and Sean's already said he'd be there for Violet and the baby.
Violet herself said that her parents were "a nightmare" together, and Sean's not much better.
I brought up my daughter and my son on my own, and they are far happier and well-adjusted than if my ex-husband and I had stayed together!
And I know I'm not unique in that.
My own childhood, in a "conventional" family, was far from blissful (though I got on fine with my dad).
I think it's a great storyline! Just because Sean is gay doesn't mean he won't be a good father.
Violet Wilson is the spitting image of Fergie from the Black-eyed Peas... imo.
So wrong I mean how the heck can they leave in love when all that happened with Frankie & she was the big love of his life, now Violet is all willing to accept him back after all that?
Crazy IMO!
Also a big YUK to the fact that Violet sleeps with Sean then Jamie knowingly accepts this & leaves with her to raise this baby?
What a stupid way to end things!
He obviously didn't love Violet enough to stay with her now he is in love with her again out of the blue! Whatever!
I agree. This storyline sounds ridiculous. Whatever happened to Jamie's 'big love' for Frankie. I didn't think that he would turn out to be such a wishy-washy character. Hopefully they bring back Frankie (Debra Stephenson). She is a lovely character and actress.
Awwwwwwwwwwwwww I'm really upset that Violet and Jamie are leaving coz it takes me a while to get used to new characters. I had got really attached to Vi, especially with her just having her new baby. I wish Jenny would come back to corrie again
