Apparently, Blanche was born in 1934, but in one website it says she was born in 1927, making her older than Emily and a bit younger than Betty. It said on CorrieNet that Babs Knox was born in 1938, making her 69, but she's actually 74. And yes, it says that Maggie Jones was born in 1919, making her older than Betty Driver, but then it said that she was born in 1934, like the character. Confused? You're not the only one!

Tvor, I am shocked!!! I honestly thought that Rita was younger than Blanche. Just shows you what all that red hair dye/preservative can do for you, but then of course poor Blanche does have a Polish hip to contend with. I am surprised the hip does not make a bee line for the factory when she is out and about with all the Polish immigrants who work there.

    Interesting news!

I would love Keith Barron to reprise his role in Duty Free as a somewhat hopeless and thwarted womaniser - and then bring in Gwen Taylor as his wife. I would love to see her spar with Blanche and Rita!

Hurrah for Keith Baron joining. I like the scenes with the oldies, it's what Corrie is all about, and a welcome relief from Janis's ugly mug or Clurr shreaking as per. Remember Wally, Blanche's beau, (played by I think it was Bernard Cribbins) who her lovely grand-daughter Tracy slept with?

That's funny because on wikipedia it says Maggie Jones was born in 1919, I doubt it!

in Fact, Rita is a little older than Blanche according to corrie.net's character profiles. Rita was born in 1932 where Blanche was born in 1936. Incidentally Ken was born in 1939 making him only three years younger than Blanche.

This might be a silly comment, but isn't Blanche an awful lot older than Rita? Why would she be going after a fella who seems younger than both of them? Didn't the same thing happen with Archie? Maybe Blanche could meet someone like Uncle Albert at the One O'Clock Club. Now those sparring partners would make interesting viewing.

It would really be nice in a way to see Blanche find a nice guy. If he's a womanizer, though, all he's going to do is leave broken hearts behind him and what's with these smooth operators meeting women at funerals anyway? The last time that happened, they all got driven in to the canal!
