Deirdre Barlow appreciation day

Just because I thought it was about high time we had one, I dedicate today as Deirdre Barlow appreciation day. She’s an odd one, is Deirdre, isn't she? Somehow she's not one of the strong/vulnerable classic Coronation Street women but she's something apart from that and very special to watch. Whatever we think of Deirdre’s disastrous choices of men (and Ken!) you’ve got to admit it, she deserves a day of appreciation. Wear your Deirdre t-shirt with pride.

What an excellent though - you are certainly right in saying that Dreary is something different from the classic Corrie woman. In the 1970s Deirdre almost bordered on being a feminist, and many scripts would see her making comments against the chauvinism of the male residents. This all changed when she got with Ken and Deirdre became a bit of a dullard, but in spite of this she's still great.

Huzzah for Deirdre!

For the longest time Deirdre has been the voice of sanity and decency between her evil and outrageous mother and daughter - it almost makes you forget that she is anything but sensible herself. She must have gotten some easy care clothing recently, though. In the eighties she seemed to spend all her time at home at the ironing board!

Deirdre is one of my favourite characters too! What an amazing achievement to have been in Corrie since 1972! as far as I'm concerned, she should be Dame Anne Kirkbride!
Just a suggestion: Can we have a Ken, Emily, Betty, Rita and Gail appreciation day please?

I think we can have appreciation days for all of them some time in the future.. good idea.

Deirdre is my #4 favorite after Kevin and Jack & Vera. Love her voice; I know, I know it is a smokers voice but soooo sexy. Talk about bedroom eyes, I say Deary has a bedroom voice.
