If they were still married (or if Ted Sullivan was still alive), it would have been Rita and Ted's wedding anniversary today. Rita and Ted were wed on June 5, 1992 in the local Register Office. It was a tear jerking wedding service as both the bride and groom knew that Ted was dying. Only Audrey Roberts knew of he pain behind the couple's smiles after Rita broke down at her hen party and told Audrey that Ted could die at any moment and she just wanted to make his last days happy. Ted died of a brain tumour three months later.

I was very annoyed with the show at the time for introducing a very appealing character and having him have a fatal illness at the same time. I thought Ted would have made a good addition to the show. It just seemed to be another cheap dramatic ploy.
I respectfully disagree. OMG Ted could bore for England!

I remember Barbara Knox's compelling acting throughout the Ted storyline. I love it when Rita cries - it sends me off. She should give crying lessons to poor old Anne Kirkbride! :)
