There were many interesting statements which came out of the Queer Up North event at which Coronation Street creator Tony Warren and some of the writers and actors attended. We've blogged much of the event before but I've only just discovered this little gem here at the Manchester Evening News blog. When asked if Corrie would ever introduce a lesbian into the soap, script writer Damon Rochefort said: “We do talk about the lesbian question a lot. We have talked about introducing a character, and thought about it a lot with the Violet Wilson character for a long time." I think Violet would have been good as a lesbian but I still think these two women should get together sometime soon!

lol nice one. Nah, maybe Amber should grow up to be on the other bus, wouldn't that be a turn up for very heterosexual Dev!
I'm not a lesbian, but I wouldn't kick Vi (Jenny Platt) out of bed for eatin' crackers.
I think it's important to have a lesbian presence in Corrie, but please! We've already had Todd Grimshaw wake up and become gay overnight, don't do the same to poor lovelorn Violet.
She's a well-balanced, intelligent girl. After being close to Sean and regularly going to the local gay disco I can't see her being suddenly being sexuality confused and hopping on The Other Bus.
I can seeing her telling Sean she has so much bad luck with fellers she should try being a lesbian (or a Nun), but that's as far as it should go.
Better to introduce a lesbian as a new character....
Next week David Platt tells Jason that he's gaY!!!! :O
I think it's probably one of his sick jokes, but it's on digispy.
Sophie, I'd be surprisd it if was true... ;-)
