Today at Corrieblog Towers, we're having a Ken Barlow Appreciation Day. While it's true, a little while back we celebrated Ken Barlow, it's time to have an official Appreciation Day. After all, he's lived in the street all his life, has a reputation as a ladies' man, has been the one anchor to the show through thick and thin and he's still got almost all his hair! Click through to read more about why today is KBAD.
As a person, Ken's not my favourite. He's smug, he's got a superior attitude, might even be considered boring and always takes the moral high ground when he's no better than he should be! On the other hand, he does have a keen sense of loyalty, and has always tried to do the right thing, rather than give into an emotional reaction, even when his loved ones, particularly Deirdre, disagree. He wasn't always a very good father, or husband but he always loved his family. He's recently reconnected with an old flame, Denise Osborne and it looks like he's finally going to see his latest in a line of children that were raised far away from him, young Daniel.
What's your favourite Ken Barlow memory?
Mine has to be the one where he was teaching Raquel French and she offered the little gem "Bonjour, Ken, Je m'appelle Raquel. Voulez-vous couchez avec moi ce soir" thinking she was saying "Isn't it a lovely day"?

Interesting post which has got me thinking. I've never really liked Ken, and don't much like him now. The scenes in the UK at the moment with him and Denise/Daniel show Ken as being unutterably smug and obnoxious. Anyone agree?
Oh I agree. I have not really liked Ken, since about... ever! But he's always been there, does have his good points, and there have been a few good moments. Any punch up with Mike Baldwin always rated, especially if it was Ken on the receiving end.
