Denise Black played Denise Osbourne, a Femme Fatale who arrived on Coronation Street in the mid-1990s. She was rumoured to become the "new Elsie Tanner" (as if *anyone* could truly replace Our Elsie!) She opened up a new hair salon and promptly had many of the Street's single (and married) men scratching at her skirts. She found Ken Barlow appealing for a time (though I'm not exactly sure why) but found herself pregnant just about the same time as Deirdre decided she might like to have Ken back. Oops! Now she has returned to our screens, with young Daniel in tow, and it's causing ructions between Ken and Deirdre who are in a bit of a rocky patch at the moment. I like her, she is feisty and brassy, vulnerable and confident.

Denise Black has had loads of television experience and has done quite a bit of repertory and fringe theatre and since her turn on the cobbles has been in notable series such as Queer as Folk (and who's that with her in the photo? Antony Cotton who plays Corrie's Sean Tully!), Peak Practice, The Bill, Casualty and Bad Girls where she played a very realistic alcoholic.
On a Corrie-related note, she played a young Pat Phoenix in "The Things We Do For Love". Pat, of course, was the *real* Elsie Tanner! I always found the Ms. Black appealing and while you don't usually hear her name at the top of well known lists, she's a solid, credible actor who always puts in a fantastic performance. It will be great to see her back on the Street, even if just for a short time. If you know of other particular roles and things that Denise has done post-Corrie that we've missed, do leave us a comment!

I like her too... Denise is a very solid actress, and it's great to have her back on t'Street.
