Fred_elliot_in_coffin_with_audrey A Prestwich vicar wants more weddings, funerals and christenings in Coronation Street - to help avert a financial crisis at his cash-strapped church. Rev Bryan Hackett of St Mary's Church told This is Lancashire that last year about £8,000 of the church’s cash came from Corrie, which filmed at St Mary's five times - including the funerals of Fred Elliot and Mike Baldwin. The church also hosted the called-off wedding between Jason Grimshaw and Sarah Platt. A Coronation Street spokeswoman said: "Unfortunately, because of our storylines, we haven't had the opportunity to film any Christenings or weddings recently."

Corrie also seem to film at this church which is also under threat, too.
