You would never have guessed that Kevin Webster had it in him, would you? Back in 1997 Sally Webster went off to Scarborough to look after her ill mum. Kev, left alone in the house with time on his hands, got to grips with his new business partner in the garage, Natalie Horrocks (or Nastily Horrid as she was called in our house). Their affair was excrutiatingly embarrassing to watch, not least because all we’d ever seen Kevin Webster do before was fix the big end of an old banger. So perhaps it wasn’t too much of a stretch then, for him then to have his fling with an older woman? Click through below for more.
When Sally returned from Scarborough, she found Kev and Natalie in bed together. She gave him five minutes to get packed and get out, and he took another five minutes to move in with Natalie. Then, Sally decided to forgive Kev but he told her it was too late, he was in love with the other woman and he wasn’t coming home. When Kev and Natalie went on holiday together, Sally got Chris Collins to break into Natalie’s house for her. She turned on the bathroom taps, filled the bath with bubble bath and left the water running, flooding the house. I remember, vividly, watching this scene and cheering Sally on! Natalie threatened Sally with legal action and as the two women argued with each other on the Street, Sally slapped Natalie across the face, hard. This got a cheer in our house and remains, for me, the best Street slap ever. Sally went on to have an affair with Chris Collins and when Kev found out, he called Sally a slut and thumped Chris on the cobbles. But by Christmas of that year, the Websters were reunited once more and Natalie went on to take over the Rovers and marry Des Barnes.

Oh, Kevin! He's so cute.
I recall this storyline was one that was initiated by Brian "The Axeman" Park when he arrived as Corrie's new producer in 1997.
If memory serves, he also decided to get rid of Derek Wilton, Andy McDonald, Maureen Holdsworth/Elliott and Bill Webster and introduced us to the Battersby clan for the first time.
He later went on to shake up (Channel) Five's somewhat dire "Family Affairs" by blowing up the main family.
It was so out of character for Kevin to fall for baraccuda Natalie's advances, i remember thinking that at the time. Sally was away nursing her dying mother, for heavens' sake! The slap on the cobbles was truly one of the greatest moments!
Brian Park didn't do much good for the show but the Battersbys worked out quite well and he did introduce Roy and Hayley to the show as well.
Was a good storyline memorable for 'that' catfight.
Kevin seemed an odd choice for the glamorous Natalie, but I do remember that he looked far more delighted with Natalie than he ever had with Sally! He had mostly been grumpy with Sally. And yes, the slap and the vandalism were extremely satisfying.
Didn't Sally then have another affair with Greg, and then Kevin moved in with Allison and they had a baby when Sara-lou had Bethany, then she got hit by a bus/threw herself in front of a bus? They have had pretty exciting lives!
