Smashing! It's the end of yet another long week, so it must be Fab Photo Friday! This week's Coronation Street fab photo comes from 1997 and sees Fred Elliott taking over the corner shop after his wife, Maureen, ran off to Germany with Bill Webster. Maureen's mother, Maud, has had her nose put out of joint by Fred's purchase of the shop, so she decides to get her own back by slipping a fish down inside the counter during the re-fit. The fish is sealed in and left to rot, with hilarious and smelly consequences. Oh yeah... and Peter Kay plays the shopfitter.

I love Maude, she is sharp at times but seldom wrong. She is so much a better character than Blanche. Blanche is just mean!! I would love to see Maude come back.

Yes I loved her too! It is REALLY too bad that the Corrie producers and writers did not write an exit for Maude and just shipped her over to a senior citizens home. They did not even mention her when Maureen came back recently. ( I watched all of this on itv.com) The actress who played her deserved better...God rest her soul!
