Coronation Street unsung hero - Jerry Booth

Comments (2)

Jerry_75Unlucky-in-love Jerry Booth appeared in Coronation Street, on and off, between 1962 and 1975. Kind, warm-hearted Jerry was often seen as a bit of a soft touch, and was often the butt of many a Ray Langton joke. He married Myra Dickenson in 1963, but the union eventually crumbled under the mountain of debt she managed to run up. In his time, Jerry was also attracted to Sheila Birtles and Mavis Riley, but these are filed in the drawer marked "Missed Opportunities" rather than "Jerry's Great Romances". In spite of his sensitive demeanour, Jerry Booth was a true unsung hero. This was illustrated in 1967 when the viaduct collapsed underneath a train - our man was first in line to search the rubble for survivors. So, let's take a quiet moment to remember the late, great, Jerry Booth. Here's to you, Jerry!

Jerry was a great character! What a shame that the actor died so young! He'd probably still be supping in the Rovers otherwise! I think he'd have been there for the long haul.

He really was wonderful, very watchable when you look back at the old DVDs from the 1970s (of which I am up to 1975!)
