Coronation Street unsung hero of the day - Angie Freeman

Angie Freeman first moved into No.7 Coronation Street in late 1990, sharing it with fellow student Jenny Bradley.

Feisty Angie liked to drink pints in t'Rovers and was popular with the Street's menfolk. She and Curly Watts became great mates and when Jenny moved out of No.7, Curly moved in. One evening, after drinking too much red wine, the two ended up in bed for a night of passion, which they later came to regret. (This event sparked off Corrie's "red-wine-leads-to-passion" in-joke which weaved its way throughout the rest of the 1990s - usually, but not exclusively, in stories featuring Curly).

Upon leaving university, Angie's ambitions as a fashion designer eventually led her to Mexico in 1993 to study Aztec design. She returned in 1996 working for Audrey's son, Stephen Reid, and eventually became Mike Baldwin's business partner in Underworld. Angie and Mike clashed frequently and she finally left Weatherfield for a new life in 1998 after discovering he had been using the business's money to finance Deirdre's trial.
