It's Wednesday again and time for another Yay or Nay. Last week's Yay or Nay was a definite YAY, proof that we're warming to ex-Hear'Say singer Kym Ryder on the Street.

This week we're asking if you think Gail Platt is turning into her own mother-in-law from hell, Ivy Tilsley? The signs are all there, the grimacing, the tutting, the spite and the hate. Hell hath no fury like a Street woman scorned and is that fury turning our once young and lovely Gail Potter into a miserable old wretch? So what do you think? Gail is prone (occasionally!) to self doubt, but Ivy was too self righteous to ever doubt herself. Gail can be a bit of a harridan, but Ivy had a nasty edge to her. I like Gail, even when she is going through a bad bit, and I never liked Ivy. Plus, Gail has far nicer hair!

Lol Gail is more of a Gail her self but the yelling reminds me of Hilda!! and to be truthful I think David going to be the male side of Ivy Tilsley!!

The best Gail scene (better than 'Norman Bates' and 'Village People' was an argument she had with Ivy in 1989 that went something like this...

Gail: 'You're not thinking of my kids Ivy'

Ivy: 'Oh yes I am!'

Gail: 'No you're not, you're using them. Using them to keep control over me...and we both know why that is don't we? Because you still blame me for what happened to [R]Brian!'

Ivy: May God forgive you Gail!

Gail: 'Yeah well he might, but you never will.'

"NAY !", I say.

In spite of all the ups and downs Gail has suffered over the years, she still has the ability to come out with some excellent one-liners.

eg "You're Norman Bates with a brief case" to Richard Hillman, or "Oh, here's the rest of the Village People" when Charlie and Jason turned up in their builder's gear as she argued with Todd in the street".

Ivy was just plain difficult and bitter.

She most certainly is! Not only the crabby side of her but the interfering in her children's lives and her sons at least, can do no wrong! Talk about blinders!
