No. 48 - Ray Langton Neville Buswell played Weatherfield builder and lothario, Ray Langton, from 1966 until 1978. Over the years he romanced many of the Street's womenfolk including Lucille Hewitt, Audrey Fleming and Sandra Butler before finally settling down in marriage to Deirdre Hunt in 1975 (much to Blanche's disapproval!). All went well for a few years, but it all went belly-up in 1978 when Ray embarked on an affair with waitress Janice Stubbs. As a result, the marriage broke down, and Ray left Weatherfield for a new life in Holland without Deirdre and their young daughter, Tracy. Ray eventually returned to Weatherfield in March 2005; he was a dying man coming back to make his peace with Dierdre and Tracy before it was too late. He went on to pop his clogs in the Rovers on Ken and Deirdre's second wedding day.
Most famous for: His business (and drinking) partnership with Len Fairclough, and making No.5 open-plan. Should Ray be in our Top 50 list at No 48 – what do you think? Check out our Top 50 so far. [Sky Clearbrook]

Was it really March 2005 that Ray returned? It doesn't seem that long at all.
