No 49 Eddie Yeats Edward Jeremy Timothy Yeats first appeared in 1974, staying around until a year later, before returning from June 1976 to December 1983. Played by the wonderful Geoffrey Hughes, Eddie was an archetypal lovable rogue in an archetypal scruffy parka and torn hat who lodged with the Ogdens and spent most of his time propping up the bar in the Rovers. Illustrating an early example of the traditional Corrie route of playing a minor character before hitting the big time, Geoffrey made his debut as a yob who attacked Albert Tatlock. But it was as the binman with a heart of gold, that he went down in Coronation Street folklore. He found romance and married the lovely (and expectant) Marion Willis in October 1983.

love to see him back on the street... One of my earliest memories of corrie is Eddie Yeats!
Me too Vince and I think that's why I always feel so fondly like him on anything else.
He's wonderful, a really excellent character and much missed. How did he leave? I'm trying to remember. Did he go off and marry Stardust Lil or whatever she was called?
That's right nora. Slim Jim and Stardust Lil (aka Marian Willis) got married and moved to Bury to nurse her mother. Their daughter, Dawn, was born soon after.
Geoffrey was the voice for the "Paul" in the Beatles "Yellow Submarine" movie....His finest hour!!!
Sunny Jim. You are the font of all Corrie knowledge. Fancy a date?
How could you not put Eddie above Charlie Stubbs on the list????? Shame on you.
