Comments (9)

David_platt_cheeky Jack P Shepherd (David Platt) won’t be getting any Chrimbo presents next week as his family haven’t exchanged presents at Christmas in years.

The Sun says that the Coronation Street actor, 18 lives in Leeds with his parents, brother and sister, and he told the paper: "We don’t do Christmas presents anymore – we decided years ago that it was just like swapping £20 with each other. We were fed up with the stress and queuing that goes with Xmas shopping so we just gave up buying presents for each other. We’re all happy about it as we still have all the decorations and the family Xmas dinner together."

Yeah Michigan! I am here in MI as well and yes I hope he gives to the less fortunate of Manchester UK!

I can understand why he stopped the gifts...The emphasis on Christmas is too commerical...It is a holiday for celebrating the birth of Jesus. If you want to give gifts, give them on the King's Day or Ephiany or serve the hoeless on a soup kitchen.

So if they don't give to each other, do they give to anyone else. Seems a little bit sad to me. There is only me and my hubby here for Christmas but it is still fun to watch him unwrap gifts. What else do you do at 8am on Christmas morning while watching junk on TV and looking out the window to see all the kiddies out on their new bikes, except over here in rural Michigan it is snowmobiles.

  • It does seem a bit odd but if it works for them as a family, good luck to 'em!

  • James

    How sad....

    Christmas is about giving.
