Brookside’s Sinbad to join Coronation Street

Michaelstarke2 If this bit of news is true, it’s fantastic news for this Corrie fan (who was also a huge Brookside fan too!). Michael Starke who played Brookside’s window cleaner Sinbad is set to join Corrie, says The Daily Star on Sunday. The paper says that Michael will play the head of an evil new family, joining the soap early in 2007. He brings five wild kids and a grumpy grandad with him. A Corrie insider told the paper that the new family move into Tracy and Charlie’s old house and will be the worst-ever family to set foot on the cobbles. "Let’s just say Corrie fans won’t have seen anything like it. This family will be absolutely awful and a huge shock to everyone on the Street. The kids will be the type who are always causing trouble and arguing. Mickey’s character is their single dad - but he’ll be just as much trouble as his unruly kids." Sounds good to us! Yeah, I heard that it's not true- so maybe the five kids are just rumours then as well?

    I really hope so!

  • Just read over on Digital Spy that the rumour may not be true although they don't say how they know, just quote "a source" whereas the paper report quoted "Michael Starke's friend" Keep tuned for more news as it happens.

Scary, sound like the Slaters on EE-which is the precise moment the show started downhill. Has not yet stopped.

Melissa, I think this family will be quite different to the Battersbys and the Platts.

The Battersybys are calming down a bit now. Chesney was always a nice lad and Cilla is getting "nicer" thank god.

As for the Platt's, they may be disfunctional, but as long as these 5 kids aren't PSYCHOPATHS who play MIND GAMES then they aren't going to be identical.

I agree that 5 may be a bit too many, and certainly too many to get in that house, but 'Sinbad'

  • Melissa

Dont get rid of the current kids, I'm loving every one of them!

Mind you, I would hate to have five more, I really would!

Arguing etc? Next door to the Platts? Across the road to the Battersbys? Are we going to have 3 identical families here?!?!

Is it true this man is going to be a murderer?

Cos I think that's quite good, we need an amazing storyline like that

But really not liking the 'PROBLEMED FAMILY' thing.

    grr.

We already have enough kids on the street as it is. My own preference would be if they got rid of a few of them, never mind bringing more in.

I remember when the Barlows (Mr & Mrs, Ken and David) house had the most people in it. Now every house seems to be bulging at the seams.

I agree with Tim that it would be fabulous if Kirk and Fiz were to move into that house.

  • Tim

UGH! Do we really need all these. FIVE kids. That's stupid. They could have given the house to some characters already on the street. Maybe it's time Kirk and Fiz settled down?

  • Gayle

Worst family ever eh? I'll never forget how horrible the Battersbys were, Leanne and Toya were thieves and Les beating up Curley.

  • coromanik

I really am not enthused about this family comming into the street. For a start, i agree 100% with the first comment, where will they fit 7 people?? lol But yeah, why there needs to be another 'hard' family i dont know. NOT interested with these guys. Guess they have to fill the house up with someone...seems there has been a loss of a lot of really good characters this year, Mike, Fred, Shelley, Danny, Frankie (soon), Sunita, Craig..all the ones i really like. OH!

  • I also cringed when I heard another problem family were joining Corrie but I think this actor might just be able to pull things off very well indeed. Looking forward to it a lot!

  • I agree with Katie. Some of the things that Street characters do now stretch the limits of credulity in terms of nastiness. I would rather see characters with good and bad in their characters - far more believable, as well as more interesting and less predictable!

  • Katie

Maybe it is just me, but sometimes I tune into Corrie to get away from real life. I don't think that I really want to watch another "problem" family. I remember when the Battersbys were being introduced to the Street and were billed are the worst family and they turned out to be not that bad. Or maybe they just improved with age.

Are there even enough rooms in that house for 7 people!?

Sounds rather like the Battersbys, if you ask me. Not that that's a bad thing - they've seem to have mellowed a lot. Let's hope they have the same effect the Battersbys did all those years ago.
