Is Vernon Tomlin the new Jack Duckworth?

Comments (6)

Vernon_tomlin_1 He’s workshy, he’s feckless and he’s back.  Yes, Vernon Tomlin returned to Coronation Street last week and now Liz has taken him back, she’s put him to work as pot-man in the Rovers.  He’s supposed to be collecting glasses, getting the mixers from the cellar and generally helping out. Instead, he’s been sitting on his backside on a barrel in the back yard of the pub, pretending to be working when he’s doing nowt of the sort.  Does he remind you of anyone? Jack Duckworth perhaps?  I really like having Vernon back, I think he’s one of the best comedy characters Corrie’s had in ages but the reaction to our earlier post – Vernon –feckless or fun? – proved I might be one of Vernon’s very few fans. What's not to like about the fella?

Vernon has now overtaken Steve McDonald as my favourite Corrie character. He is just so funny. Him and Steve are a great comedy duo.

I really like him, we never saw Jack collecting glasses in a cowboy hat did we!

  • Vernon's a fantastic character in the fabulous corrie tradition of wasters like Stan & Jack. Long may his fecklessness continue.

Could be, especially when you consider Jack's similarity to Stan Ogden. I love the interaction between Vernon, Michelle and Steve.
