Betty Driver, who plays Coronation Street’s Saint Betty of the hotpots, starred in Boots! Boots! when she was a girl, oh yes she did. It was a George Formby film made more than 70 years ago and will be released on DVD in January next year. The Daily Express says that Betty, 86, sang as a teenager in Boots! Boots! in 1934. But George Formby’s domineering wife and manager Beryl put her foot down and Betty’s scenes were cut. A spokeswoman for DD Home Entertainment told the paper: "This special DVD edition has been extensively restored to include lost scenes, including a song from a young Betty Driver."
