Mavis and Derek Reunited

Mavis Riley and Derek Wilton were reunited last week but sadly, not on Coronation Street. The two actors – Thelma Barlow (Mavis) and Peter Baldwin (Derek) joined forces to read poetry at a gala concert marking the centenary of the birth of the poet Sir John Betjeman. Among the poet’s best-known works are “Come, friendly bombs, and fall on Slough, It isn't fit for humans now.''    I hear on the grapevine that Sir JB was indeed a Corrie fan, so that's another one to add to the celebrity fan club!
