Well Morrissey may reckon today’s Corrie stars are as common as muck but other famous fans have often spoken publicly of their love for the show. One is only to be expected as a North West entertainer (Ladies and Gentlemen I give you Mr Paul O’Grady) who yesterday confessed to his TV audience that he asks not to be disturbed when it’s on. But I was gobsmacked to read that Richard Chamberlain who many of us lusted after in The Thorn Birds, is also an admirer, especially of Bradley Walsh and Johnny Briggs.. What with the soon to be ex Mrs Macca and Rooney's squeeze both saying they'd like to bag parts, who's going to be next? Will we see J-Lo requesting a guest spot as Vera's new sidekick or George Clooney as a stunt double for Norris? [Linda Jones]

I think Morrissey still does have a lot of affection for the show, hence his comment, as, like a lot of fans who cremember the show from the 70s when the people of the Street did aspire to something "a bit more bay window", well, compared to that, they're all chav-tastic now. Where is today's Annie Walker? Elsie Tanner? Where's all the glamour gone?
Yes I agree - I think Rita has real class and Emily in her own way and Audrey too.
I've just heard from a relative that the Animals in Distress sanctuary that Tina is connected with (patron I think) have just brought out a calendar for 2007 with Tina and Ryan in it.
