Morrissey: “Everyone in Coronation Street is as common as muck”

Morrissey fans may already know that the fella’s quite fond of Coronation Street. He even interviewed one of its top stars many years ago. But what’s this he’s saying about Corrie now? In an interview with The Times, Morrissey says: “In 1970s Coronation Street, if we must discuss it, the inhabitants were all aspiring to gentility. Now everybody is thrilled to be as common as muck and everybody strives to be seen as completely backward and aggressive and lunatic.” I'm quite sure Annie Walker would've agreed.
