Emily’s great-niece Freda turns up and persuades Aunty Em to go to church with her and Rita. But at the church, Ed walks in so Emily runs out, Freda throws stones at him in the graveyard and Emily tells Ed she wishes he’d never been born. Over a cuppa tea back at the house, Emily tells Rita of the turmoil she’s in.
Cilla’s thrown Les out after she found out he’d slept with Janice so he’s staying with Leanne and Danny in Mike’s flat, getting in their way, wrestling with the cafetiere and generally making a nuisance of himself. Chesney decides he’ll never get wed because of the heartache it brings and Cilla’s clearly upset, too distraught to even slap-on her make-up.
Hayley prepares to visit her sick Uncle while Roy goes with Clifford to the toy train shop. Roy has to get back to the caff in time to see Hayley off but he’s too late and she’s gone - much to Vera’s disappointment who now lumps Roy in with the raff-riff of fellas that are as unreliable as her Jack.
