Lucy-Jo Goes Wild

Lucy-Jo Hudson who played Corrie killer Katy Harris will be turning up on telly again soon in a new programme filmed in Africa, Wild At Heart.   In The Sunday Mail, Lucy-Jo explains how she found herself in South Africa filming Wild At Heart following a whirlwind audition. She was on a plane four days after being seen for the part, leaving behind her boyfriend - Alan Halsall, who plays Coronation Street’s Tyrone Dobbs.  She told the paper: "I just threw myself into it. It was a fantastic experience. The animals were amazing. But it is lonely and isolating and I was homesick for the first month. Having been working with Alan on Corrie, we'd spent virtually every day together so to be away for three or four months was a bit of a shock. I really missed him. But Alan got me a webcam so we kept in touch and I was seeing him every night. He managed to get a week off work and came out. I took him on a game drive where we saw lions up close, stroked a cheetah sitting right next to rhinos and elephants... you just don't expect to experience stuff like that."

She told the paper: "When I left Corrie I just thought, 'I hope I get some work.' But the last year has just been the busiest, fastest year ever. A week after leaving I did Loose Women. I had a week on holiday with Alan and as soon as we got back I auditioned for Wild at Heart and was off to South Africa. I had two weeks off, then went straight into playing Cinderella in panto, which finished last week." Lucy-Jo and Alan are currently on holiday in the Canary Islands and while she has scripts to read when she comes back she has nothing lined up - although another series of Wild At Heart is in the offing in March.
