From Shakespeare To The Street

Comments (2)

Nathan3_1Ray Fearon, who plays garage mechanic Nathan Harding, says he's looking forward to adding more depth to his role on Coronation Street.  He told itv.com: "He's a boxer, he's been in the army, there's lots of things, he's kind of four-dimensional".  Before he landed his role on the cobbles, Ray was the first black actor to play Othello on the Royal Shakespeare Company's main stage in over 40 years. He was also in Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone.  Shakespeare?  Harry Potter? So what on earth's he doing in a soap?

Please don't let Frankie and Nathan become an item. I can't get my head round black/white relationships. What is wrong with Nathan having a nice fling with the black girl from the factory? Or is that too politically incorrect?

As Corrie represents a multi-ethnic city like Manchester, I think we should be seeing more mixed relationships. I can't think of any off hand put I'm sure there must have been black/white relationships on the Street in the past. We've had Sunita and Ciaran recently (Asian / Irish) but I was pleased that didn't work out and for one reason only - Ciaran was a prat!
