It's Noddy!

Noddyholder_1Merry Xmas Everybody!  No, I’m not being a little early in my seasonal salutation, I’m just reminding you of the title of one of the Chrimbo songs you’ll be hearing on the radio and TV over (and over and over) the coming weeks.  Slade’s hit was Number 1 in 1973 and became an instant festive fan favourite  - but can you guess what links the band’s lead singer Noddy Holder to Corrie?  Well, to celebrate the 40th anniversary of life on the cobbles in 2000, Noddy got a walk-on part on the Street where he played a character called Stan.

Another famous walk-on I can remember is Michael Crawford who had a drink at the bar of the Rovers and I’m pretty sure Cliff Richard has done the same. If you know of any other famous walk-ons on the Street, post to the blog and let us all know

I read 'somewhere' that famous racer Mike "the bike" Hailwood did a walk-on

Peter Schmeichel (after whom Chesney's dog is named) was once seen walking along the street in the background. I think we only saw him from behind but it was most definitely him. Did Jimmy Saville once appear? Or was that just the woman from the pound shop in the precinct?
