Hayley's Anorak

Did you know that Hayley’s trademark red anorak was taken off the racks in the high street chain store Dorothy Perkins after it became associated with the transsexual Street character?   Yup, the comfy red coat that was selling quite happily for £29.99 fell out of favour after being worn by unfashionable Hayley and nobody wanted to buy it anymore. Julie Hesmondhalgh who plays Hayley, says she bought two of the jackets for her character from a store in Manchester in 1998 and not long after, she got her first letter from a woman begging her to stop wearing them. Julie said: "The woman had bought one and said she couldn't wear it anymore because everywhere she went people took the mickey out of her."

A Dorothy Perkins spokesman told Ananova: "The anorak is definitely not for sale in our stores anymore."  If you spot a red anorak for sale just like Hayley Cropper’s, or if you spot any other Corrie cast clothes for sale in the shops – or better still, online - post to the blog and let us all know.
